A day at the counter in Germany, step by step

  • Scan a barcode or tap an item; goods sold by the kilo come from a label-scale barcode.
  • The price is the one you set, or what the item cost plus your margin; a discount or a refund carries a reason and a name.
  • The customer pays by EC-Karte (girocard) or Kreditkarte; the bill and the stock are updated together, and card payments stay on your own Kartenterminal / Kartenleser.
  • At closing you count the drawer and close the day; running-low items turn into a purchase order for the supplier.

  • How customers pay: EC-Karte (girocard), Kreditkarte, Apple Pay / Google Pay, PayPal / QR payments, Bargeld still very common. Take it the way you already do and record it on the bill.
