Affordable VAPT for startups

Do the free things first, then test only what matters. Here is how to keep it small.

A startup rarely needs a big security project. It needs the cheap basics done first, then one honest test of the part that holds customer data, usually when a larger customer asks for a report.

Start with the free audit. Pay only when you know what you are paying for.

Seven things to do before you pay anyone

All of them are free or nearly free, and they close most of what a first test would otherwise report.

  1. Turn on two-factor login for email, code, cloud and DNS.
  2. Check nobody has left a password or key in the code.
  3. Back up the database, and try restoring it once.
  4. Close admin pages and database ports to the public.
  5. Set up SPF and DMARC so nobody can send mail as you.
  6. Keep a list of who has access, and remove people who left.
  7. Run the free website check, and fix what it says.

How we keep it affordable

  • Scope only what holds money or customer data.
  • Grey-box testing with a login, so fewer hours are spent guessing.
  • A short report your developers can use, with one retest in the quote.
  • A written quote before anything starts.

When you should hire someone else

  • A regulator or customer requires a CERT-In empanelled auditor.
  • You need a certificate. That comes from an independent auditor.
  • You want round-the-clock monitoring. We do not offer that by default.

What this is not

Said plainly

  • The Nivasik Team is not a CERT-In empanelled auditor and holds no security certification. If a regulator or customer asks for a report from an empanelled auditor, or for a certificate, that comes from them, not from us.
  • No test proves a system is safe. It shows what was found, in the time and scope agreed.
  • Nothing is guaranteed: not a pass, not a certificate, not a result.

Questions people ask

What is affordable VAPT for a startup?

Testing only what holds customer data or money, with a login so the tester works faster, one retest included, and no report padding. Published prices are here.

A customer has asked for a VAPT report. What do I do?

Ask exactly what they will accept, especially whether it must come from a CERT-In empanelled auditor. We are not one, and if they need that we will tell you to go to one.

Should a startup do VAPT before launch?

Do the free basics first. Test once real customer data or a large customer depends on it.

Do you do low-cost penetration testing?

We keep the scope small so the bill is small, and quote in writing. We do not claim to be the lowest; start with the free audit and judge the work.
