When Tally is the better choice
When TallyPrime is the better choice
- You need double-entry accounting and audited books.
- You file GST returns from the software: its page describes GSTR-1 upload.
- Your accountant already works in it.
- You want a lifetime licence: it lists one.
When Nivasik is the better choice
- Your problem is the counter, not the ledger.
- You want tables, a kitchen or khata reminders.
- You want staff pay beside the bills.
- Your accountant can take an import file at month end.
Many shops use both
Bills, stock, khata and staff are done at the counter in Nivasik. At month end your accountant loads the export file into Tally and files from there. Nothing here is a live sync, and Nivasik does not check that the two agree.
What Nivasik does not do
Said plainly, before you decide
- It does not file GST returns or issue e-invoices or e-way bills. GST data is exported, and Tally is an import file, not a live link.
- It does not calculate or file statutory payroll (PF, ESI, TDS). It works out pay from attendance, takes advances off, and locks a payslip.
- It takes no card payments and runs no payment gateway. The booking page takes a booking as 'pay at the property'.
Questions people ask
Is Nivasik a Tally alternative?
For accounting, no. Nivasik is not double-entry accounting and does not file returns. For a shop that bought Tally only to make bills and watch stock, it can do that job at the counter, and your accountant keeps Tally.
What are free alternatives to Tally in India?
Free editions and tiers exist (BUSY lists a free Express edition, for example). Nivasik is ₹0 for your first 45 days as an opening offer, but for the counter rather than the ledger.
How much does TallyPrime cost?
Its page lists Silver, single user, at ₹750 a month, ₹8,100 for 12 months or ₹22,500 for a lifetime licence, with 18% GST on top. Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically until cancelled.
Can Nivasik send data to Tally?
It makes an import file your accountant loads into Tally. It is not a live link.
