Free for everyone
Free khata app — udhar written on the bill, ₹0
A bill put on khata at the counter goes straight onto the customer’s account, with the items on it — and a reminder is a WhatsApp draft you send from your own phone.
Free for everyone · ₹0 · no card · opening offer, until further notice · we do the setup
Nivasik’s khata is free for everyone — ₹0 under an opening offer, until further notice. A bill put on khata at the counter goes straight onto that customer’s account, so who owes what, and since when, is always one look away — and reminders are a WhatsApp draft you send from your own phone.
It is part of the counter, not a separate app: the bill, the stock and the udhar are one record, so a customer’s khata can never disagree with the bills behind it.
How udhar works here
- Put a bill on khata at the counter in one tap — the whole bill, or whatever is left after part of it was paid in cash or UPI.
- A customer with no phone can still be written down by name and street, and the counter says plainly that no reminder can be sent to them.
- See who owes: every account with what is owed, since when, and the bills behind it.
- Collect it — all of it, or part — in cash or UPI, and the account comes down by exactly that.
- Remind: a WhatsApp message (or an SMS) is drafted with the amount and your UPI ID; you open it and press send yourself. A customer who asked not to be contacted is never offered one.
- Take the list with you: send the whole khata list to your own WhatsApp, download it for Excel, or print it.
Why khata belongs on the counter
A khata app on its own phone is one more thing to type into after the customer has left, and a debt written down later is a debt that is sometimes forgotten. When the khata is a way of paying the bill, it is written at the moment the goods go out, with the items on it — so when a customer says “I never took that”, the bill is there.
The same customer also earns points, has a history of what they buy, and can be found by a few digits of their mobile.
What it costs
| Plan and price | What it covers |
|---|---|
| POS add-on ₹0 per outlet / month | Khata, customers and reminders — with the counter, per outlet |
- Every plan and add-on is ₹0 and the whole product is unlocked for everyone. No per-guest fees, no usage meters and no setup fee.
- There is no card to give and nothing to pay.
This is an opening offer. We may change it, or end it, at any time, without prior notice. If the offer changes or ends, any price applies from then. Your records stay yours and can be exported on request.
What it does not do
Said plainly, before you start
- It does not send reminders by itself. Each one is a draft — on WhatsApp, or as an SMS — that you open and send from your own phone; Nivasik sends nothing.
- It does not collect the money online: a customer pays you by cash or UPI, and the cashier records it.
- It does not charge interest on khata.

Other free ways to do this, and what they cost
Nivasik is not the only free way to do this. Each of these is worth knowing, and each has a cost that is not on a price list.
A notebook and a calculator
Costs almost nothing and works in a power cut. What it costs is time: every total is added by hand, nobody away from the desk can see it, and an entry can be changed later with nothing to show it was.
A free edition of a paid product
Some software has a free edition with limits on rooms, bills or users. Read what the limit is, and what happens to your records the day you pass it.
A separate khata app
Free, and on your phone already. It is a second place to type every credit sale into, apart from the bill — the two drift apart, and the items behind a debt are not on it.

Questions people ask
Is there a free khata app?
Nivasik’s khata is free for everyone at ₹0, as an opening offer until further notice. It is part of the counter, so a credit sale goes on the customer’s account as the bill is made.
Can I send khata reminders on WhatsApp?
Yes, as a draft you send yourself: the message is written with the amount and your UPI ID, you open it in WhatsApp and press send. Nothing is sent by itself.
What if the customer has no phone?
Write them down by name and street. The counter says plainly that no reminder can be sent to them.
Can I export my khata?
Yes: send the list to your own WhatsApp, download it for Excel, or print it.
Is it the same as a khata book?
It keeps the same thing — who owes what — but it is written from the bill at the counter, so the items behind every rupee owed are on it.
Run your own place on it, free. It is ₹0 for everyone.
We do the setup with you — your rooms, menu or stock list, your staff and your prices — in about a day. No card, and nothing to pay while the opening offer runs.
