For cloud kitchens
Cloud kitchen software for Swiggy and Zomato orders
No dining room, two delivery apps, one kitchen — and one question that decides everything: after the platform’s cut, did that dish make money?
Free for 45 days · no card · we do the setup
Nivasik is kitchen and billing software for cloud kitchens that sell on Swiggy and Zomato. Orders are punched in from the platform’s tablet, then reach one kitchen screen, take their ingredients off stock and book the platform’s commission as a cost on the pre-tax value, with a payout register to check each transfer and a per-dish view of what is left after the cut.
It is the POS at ₹1,499 per outlet a month, free for 45 days.
Read this first: app orders are typed in
- Swiggy and Zomato orders do not arrive by themselves. Both platforms keep their order feeds for approved POS vendors, so each order is read off the platform’s own tablet and punched in at the counter.
- No payment is collected here. The platform collected the money before the kitchen saw the order; Nivasik records it as the platform’s collection, not as cash.
- Nothing is sent back to the apps — no menu sync, no order status, no stock updates.
What you get for typing the order
- One kitchen screen for both apps and any counter orders, by station and item by item.
- Stock that comes off by recipe, whichever app the dish sold on.
- The commission booked as a cost, per order, on the right day, at the percentage in your own agreement.
- A payout register to check the weekly transfer against the orders it should cover.
- A settled order stays on the kitchen screen until it is cooked — the money arrives before the food, the opposite of a dining room.
Commission on the right number
A small difference per order that becomes a large one in a month.
| Taken on the whole bill | Taken on the value before tax | |
|---|---|---|
| The bill | ₹1,050 | ₹1,050 |
| Tax inside it | ₹50 | ₹50 |
| Commission base | ₹1,050 | ₹1,000 |
| Commission at 25% | ₹262.50 | ₹250.00 |
Illustrative: a 25% commission on a ₹1,050 order carrying ₹50 of tax. Use the percentage in your own agreement.
In this example the agreement says 25% of the order’s value before tax. Booking the cut on the whole bill instead overstates every commission by the commission on the tax — ₹12.50 on this order, on every order, every month. Nivasik books it on the pre-tax value, less any tip, the tax on charges and the round-off, and stores that base on the order, so the payout can be checked against it — and against the base your own agreement names.
Is the dish worth selling on the app?
Each platform has its commission percentage and a menu markup percentage, set per property because both are negotiated, and any dish can carry its own price per platform. For every dish the kitchen can see what it costs to make from its recipe, what it earns at the counter, and what is left after the platform takes its cut of a price that was marked up to absorb exactly that cut.
That last number is the reason a cloud kitchen needs this at all. A markup that looks generous on the menu can still lose money on a dish with a heavy recipe; the only way to know is to set the three numbers side by side, dish by dish.
A cloud kitchen shift
- Before the lunch window — the day opens, and yesterday’s wastage is written off with its reasons.
- 12:00–15:00 — orders read off both tablets are punched in and appear on the kitchen screen by station.
- 15:30 — the reorder list shows chicken and cream below their levels, grouped by supplier.
- Night — the dinner window runs the same way; the platforms’ collections stay out of the cash drawer.
- Monday — the weekly transfer arrives and is checked against the payout register, order by order.
What it does not do
The rest of the edges.
Not included, said plainly
- No card terminal or payment gateway for any counter orders; payments there are recorded by method.
- The kitchen screen needs the internet.
- No e-invoice or GST filing; GSTR-1 data and a Tally import file are exported, with app sales kept apart from counter sales.
What it costs
₹1,499 per outlet a month, with no setup fee and no per-order charge. Each outlet keeps its own takings, its own costs and its own day.
Questions people ask
Can Swiggy and Zomato orders come in automatically?
No. The platforms keep their order feeds for approved POS vendors, so orders are punched in from the platform’s tablet. From then on they share the kitchen screen, stock and reports with everything else.
How should the platform commission be calculated?
On whatever base your agreement names. Nivasik books it on the order’s value before tax — a 25% cut on a ₹1,050 order with ₹50 of tax is ₹250.00, not ₹262.50 — and stores that base on each order so it can be checked.
How do I know if a dish is profitable on Swiggy or Zomato?
Compare what it costs to make, from its recipe, with what is left of the app price after the platform’s cut. Nivasik shows those side by side for every dish, per platform.
Is money from the apps counted as cash?
No. The platform collected it, so it is kept out of the cash drawer and reconciled against the weekly payout instead.
