Attendance register: a printable monthly sheet for your staff
Pick the month, type your staff’s names, choose the weekly off and print. You get one A4 landscape sheet: every date of the month across the top with its weekday, the weekly offs shaded, a row per person, and columns to total the days present, absent and on leave.
Prefer a spreadsheet? Download the same register as a CSV file that opens in Excel. Nothing you type is saved or sent anywhere.
Everything is worked out in your browser. Nothing you type is saved or sent anywhere — no sign-up, no account, and the numbers never leave this device.
How to keep it
- Mark every person, every day, at the same time — at the start of the shift is easiest to keep up.
- Use the key printed on the sheet, so anybody who picks it up reads it the same way.
- Total it on the last day: days present, absent and on leave, in the three columns at the end.
- Sign it and keep it. A register is only worth something when there is one sheet a month, in order, for as long as your records need to go back.
The marks, and what they mean for pay
| Mark | Means | For pay |
|---|---|---|
| P | Present | A day worked |
| A | Absent | A day off — it costs a day of pay if it is beyond the allowance |
| ½ | Half day | Half a day off |
| L | Leave | A day off — paid if it is within the leave you allow |
| WO | Weekly off | Paid, and part of the month’s allowance |
| H | Holiday | A holiday given to everyone — not counted as anybody’s day off |
From the register to the salary
At the end of the month, count for each person the full days off beyond the weekly offs (absent and leave together), the half days, and any weekly offs they worked. Those three numbers, the monthly salary and any advance are all the salary calculator needs: it divides the salary by the days in that month, takes off only the days beyond the allowance, and shows its working.
What a paper register cannot do
Its limits
- It does not add up. Every total is counted by hand, at the end of the month, when mistakes are hardest to find.
- It cannot be seen from anywhere else. If the owner is away, the register is on a wall they cannot see.
- An entry can be changed later with nothing to show it was.
- It is a working register, not a statutory form. If the law asks you to keep attendance or wage records in a prescribed form, check what your state requires.
Attendance on the phone, and the salary from it
- One square per person per day, marked on any phone; half days are half.
- The month’s pay worked out from it: a day of pay over the days in that month, advances taken off.
- Payslips frozen once paid, and a record of who changed what that cannot be edited or deleted.
Attendance and pay come with the Group plan (₹2,499 per property a month, from 3 properties), and every property can try them free for 45 days. Attendance is marked by whoever you give it to, usually the owner or a manager — there is no fingerprint, face or GPS check-in. The pay it works out is salary and payslips, not statutory payroll: no PF, ESI, professional tax or TDS.
Questions people ask
What is an attendance register?
A sheet with a row for each person and a column for each day of the month, marked every day — present, absent, half day, leave, weekly off or holiday — and totalled at the end of the month to work out pay.
How do I make an attendance sheet for my staff?
Choose the month and the weekly off above, type the names (or leave empty rows), and press Print. The sheet has every date, the weekday, shaded weekly offs and totals columns.
Can I get the attendance register in Excel?
Yes. “Download for Excel (CSV)” saves the same month as a CSV file that Excel, Google Sheets and LibreOffice open.
Is this register a statutory form?
No. It is a working register. If the law asks you to keep attendance or wage records in a prescribed form, check what your state requires.
Are the names I type saved?
No. They stay on this page in your browser and are gone when you close it. Nothing is sent anywhere.
